Huawei launches a 3D smartphone

THE 3D TREND is once again being foisted upon punters as Huawei has announced the launch of its first 3D smartphone.
Aptly called Vision, the handset features a 3D user interface and a "carousel display", by which we think Huawei means a revolving set of home page icons, or images, or something. With it Huawei will join the Korean handset maker LG in the 3D smartphone market, which - to be honest - hasn't exactly taken off yet.
Huawei's 3D device runs the Android 2.3 Gingerbread mobile OS and is supported by a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM 8255 processor. The Chinese vendor says this makes for "the perfect combination of technology and style".
Like a posh car, the Huawei Vision has an aluminum alloy "uni-body" that comes in rose gold, silver or charcoal, along with "a curve touch design".
The phone has a completely 3D user interface that bundles the handset's features into 3D panels on the home screen. The interface allows users to select any panel of the home screen with just one finger swipe and makes it easy to prioritise the application view.
And it's light as a feather. The device measures only 9.9mm at its thinnest point and weighs 121g. It supports HD 720p video recording and features a 5MP auto focus camera with LED flash. With Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP, high-speed WiFi 802.11b/g/n internet connectivity, and a full range of messaging capabilities including SMS, MMS, Email, Push Mail and IM, the Huawei Vision makes staying connected with friends and family even easier.
"We are very excited to present Huawei Vision, the smartphone which strikes the perfect balance between technology and style," said Victor Xu, chief marketing officer of Huawei Device. "The unique 3D user interface heralds a new era in Huawei's leadership, as we continue to create devices that enhance the user experience through stylish design and smart functionality."
The Huawei Vision 3D smartphone will be available in selected markets from September. It offers access to the full range of Android apps and comes pre-installed with Angry BirdsAsphalt 6: AdrenalineOrder & Chaos Online, and Guerrilla Bob HD
